In-School Programs

SPECIAL OFFER to Ausable Bayfield Conservation Watershed Schools: At no cost, ABCA will come to your school to deliver soil and water focussed programs as indicated below **

Ausable Bayfield Conservation educators are dedicated to building relationships between youth and their natural world. These programs are typically offered at your school from November to April. Educators may also be able to develop and deliver specialized programs to meet your curriculum needs. Activities can include mulitmedia presentations, games, nature exploration or investigation of natural specimens. 

In addition to the programs listed, a regular Outdoor Program may be delivered in your schoolyard (depending on the site and/or program).

PRIMARY

Amazing Animals 

How is a beaver different from a snake? Learn about some amazing adaptations as you explore the animal groups. 

Our Water World **

Journey through the water cycle and investigate the amazing properties of water.  Explore how water moves through our global and local world. 

Plant Power 

Become a herbal superhero as you discover how plants make their own food and form the base of any food chain. Learn how to identify some common plants.

SWAP **

The Spring Water Awareness Program helps students increase their understanding of river systems and the hazards associated with them.

Snowshoeing

Let us teach your class how to snowshoe.  We can provide you with a fully guided experience packed with games and activities OR you can rent a set of 30 snowshoes for the day. (Please click here for more information about snowshoeing programs)

Uncovering Soil Secrets **

Dig in and discover soil.  ABCA will bring different types of soil to your classroom for your students to 'unearth' the differences and similarities between samples through hands-on investigations.  Learn about healthy soil and why it is important.

Study different types of rocks first hand. Explore the formation of rocks and the minerals they contain.

Get to Know Your H2O **

Dive in and  learn about where the water you use every day comes from, where it goes after you're done using it and how your use affects the overall water system, both natural and human-constructed.

Save Our Soils **

Dig in and discover what soil is made of. Investigate the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil. Soil samples and demonstrations help students better understand how soil should be managed for long term health and productivity.

Innovation Creativity Entrepreneurship (I.C.E.) Training 

Looking for a unique challenge-based learning opportunity? Ask us to custom design an experience for your students. This program will give your students the opportunity to  contribute towards a solution to a real local problem. Before the experience, have ABCA provide information about the problem. Then have us help the students work through the brainstorming and prototyping process. The training can end with a 'shark tank' where students present their solutions to an expert panel.
